ANXIETY

What is anxiety? It’s important to know that anxiety can be really different from person to person. You may have friends or family who have anxiety, but what they describe is totally different from what you’re experiencing. Also, sometimes symptoms of anxiety can be sneaky, or easily attributed to something else. If you’re not sure if what you’re feeling is anxiety, read below. Anxiety can be…

Worrying…a LOT.  And when you do get a break from your worry, you worry that you SHOULD be worrying about something.

Feeling restless, irritable, or “edgey.”

Needing to stay busy.

Struggling to concentrate.

Feeling self-conscious, or hyper-focused on what others may be thinking of you.

Bouncing between feeling keyed up and totally depleted of energy.

Issues with sleep.

Feeling limited in your abilities.

Sensations such as tightness, shaking, rapid changes in temperature, heart beating faster, etc.

Unexplained chronic pain or physical discomfort.

Needing things to be “just right.”

Feeling fearful or panicked.

Anxiety is no fun.

If you’re nodding your head to the descriptions above, you’ve probably been suffering a lot, and are ready to find a way through.

Anxiety can result from stressful situations, brain chemistry, genetics, past trauma, and thought patterns. Everyone’s experience with anxiety is different, and I can help you to better understand how anxiety shows up for you, and what your unique needs are.

People I work with express that it’s a relief to be heard and validated in how anxiety has impacted them, and empowering to explore new ways of caring for themselves with their increased understanding and compassion.  You deserve to feel heard and held in your most difficult moments, and my job is to help find ways to show up for yourself in that way.
