BODY IMAGE

We live in a culture that sends us constant messages about how we should eat, how our bodies should look, and our obligation to perform health behaviors. These messages come from every source imaginable: the media, our family cultures, medical and helping professionals, our educational system, and, of course, the Diet Industry. These standards contribute to stigma towards the majority of bodies (especially larger bodies of color) and cause great emotional and physical harm. It’s no wonder that many of us struggle in our relationship with food, movement, and feeling at home in our bodies. You may be ready for this healing work if:

Your sense of self-worth is wrapped up in your body size or performing health practices

There’s no energy or space left for what really matters to you because your focus is wrapped up in food, exercise, and your appearance

You have faced judgement and discrimination based on your body size, and have made your life smaller to self-protect

You oscillate between rigid meal plans and exercise routines and feeling “out of control” with food

You’ve tried a variety of diets, “lifestyle changes” or pursued “wellness” and blame yourself when you don’t get the results that were promised

You desire greater freedom, compassion, pleasure and connection in your relationship with your body

My approach is grounded in fat positivity, body liberation, size diversity and inclusivity, and Intuitive Eating frameworks, which means I believe ALL bodies are deserving of advocacy, respect, and competent care. You may believe you need to lose weight to earn these basic human needs, and I am here to help you explore and challenge that belief.

You have so much to offer the world, and being at war with food and your body is getting in the way.
